About the Artwork

I can very easily get addicted to an anime. This 9"x12" 140lbs #watercolor #paper painting reminds me of some of them. The moon in #SoulEater had a face. Mine is more like Sauron's searching eye (#LOTR). Recently, I have been re-watching #FullMetalAlchemist. Nothing like my painting, but if you read between the lines there are some good life lessons in that show. It pays to have someone introduce you to anime, because like people, sometimes you have to walk around in their shoes before you can understand them. Lately, I have been curious about escapist activities and the blame we tend to place on those who engage (or disengage) in them. Finger pointings fly at tragedy and the introverts are suspect in their reclusivity. But winding down in a extroverted society sometimes triggers a great pull back from the riggers of interaction. An addiction to games, smart phones, painting, anime etc are a result. However, empowering sounds better to me than shaming. So the next time you think your kid or friend is addicted to those things, invite them to lunch or join them or just don't blame them. They might be escaping from you.
