About the Artwork

Looking out of my studio window in Western Massachusetts (US), there was a brilliant afternoon sky, enclosed in some dark clouds. This piece is made from pigmented encaustic wax with tar and colored alcohol inks forming the red and gold marks. The alcohol inks are heated with a torch, providing an interesting surface as the alcohol evaporates. It is painted on birch plywood and does not require framing.
