Marijah is a French artist, born in Laos (1974) with roots Tai Dam from North Vietnam. She lives and works in the south of France (Gard) and collaborates under the ~21358SMart~ project, four hands with artist Sander Steins (Netherlands) . "I explore art through impulsive gestural...The lines talk for me...they reflect my instinctive language...testifying of phenomena of culturing and acculturation that characterize my nomad art...my explorations...my sensory researches...my internal and external connections... I am mostly an artist painter but I also explore several media: drawing...photography...computer art...poems are also my way to express my instinctive thoughts...."


"As an artist I find myself often beset by doubt in the diversity of my creations. Doubt not to be fairly constant and be like a researcher who seeks. In my best days I am happy to see that this variety is my mixed language expressed to give meaning to my roots uprooted. So over time I try to reconcile myself with my inner self. Sometimes upon the surface and sometimes deeply I waver between painting, drawing … And then the quotation from Paul Valéry makes sense: « Ce qu’il y a de plus profond en l’homme, c’est la peau. » (« What there is more profound in man, it is the skin. ») I have to save my skin! of this system that attempts to label us, to put us names, pigeonhole … My analysis upon surface and my gaze on my painting shows my impulsivity and the blend of contrast and colors. In it I acknowledge my superficiality. However, with my organic lines in trance which looking to connect with harmony one point to another, I feel the depths of my entrails. Blood vessel tissues of my being that reacts and interacts with the senses. By understanding my duality I’m like at peace with my whole being. Surface and depth while I reveal myself in my nebulae abstraction...".
