About

Artist Statement:
“Every piece I’ve created is an extension of my history, my ideology, the best in me, the worst in
me; the light, the peace as well as the darkness.
My work reflects the questions I have and the answers I quietly listen for. As I create a painting or a sculpture, I disconnect from the norm, and I go to a place that is all mine; completely losing myself and the concept of time.”
“The journey I have taken to detach myself from my artwork has been very difficult for me that took 35 years and much hesitation. I am finally able to sell my artwork and share my dream realm with whoever feels a connection with me. I hope you enjoy the pieces, but more importantly, I hope that you have questions and that it evokes a multitude of emotions within you.”
Education:
Estacion de Hidalgo, Hidalgo. MEXICO.
Professional Teaching Experience:
I displayed a few pieces at Riley Elementary School in Chicago, where I worked for nine years in the lunchroom. It was extremely rewarding to watch the expressions and reactions of the students and faculty.
The school then asked if I would like to teach art to the students. I enjoyed the opportunity to share my passion and help others appreciate and learn about art.
Exhibitions:
Around the Coyote Wicker Park Art Festival 1996 & 1997
Riley Elementary School, Chicago 1997
Artist Influences:
Ancient cultures were amazing! It’s hard to imagine how much artwork there was with limited
resources. The Mayans, Aztecs, Toltecs, and Sumerians influenced me. Honestly, all ancient civilizations worldwide fascinate me. The artists from these periods inspired me to make big statements, the power of colors, and to leave my mark!
