PINAR AKBABA

About

Location : Turkey
Born in Istanbul in 1981 and a graduate of Istanbul University class of 2002, I started painting in 1989.

I took classes from various reputable artists such as Kadir Akorak, Pınar Kalem including the legend himself Hasan Kavruk.

I would not put myself under any banners. I have no agenda other than creating aesthetics. For me to paint is to be free. It’s a way to escape from all the rules of the repressive society. A path that leads to finding the self, being one with the self. That’s why I paint abstract. Stripped away from any kind of restriction, it’s the ultimate representation of the self at the moment. No lies, no deception: from the depths of the hearth of the artist to the canvas.

A style that is true to the nature of the painter. A style that unifies the soul with the mind; and the mind with the body. It’s only when the body and the mind is unified that we are able to cease the spirituality that the Nature intended us to have. The crayon and the paper; the oil and the canvas, these are only the tools I use to ensure this unification. I find joy in recreating my consciousness on a blank paper. To create, to add something to my life and to the lives of others gives me an indescribable satisfaction. It’s this satisfaction that so many crave that I hope people will find in my paintings.
