L Wade Allen
About

I consider myself autodidact although I have had taken many art courses at Austin Museum of Art. My work is influenced by Michael Lang, Phillip Wade and masters such as Picasso, Monet, Van Gogh, Frank Stella and William Turner. Much of my work is contemporary, eclectic and experimental utilizing acrylic, oil, encaustic, watercolor, ink and other mediums on gallery-wrapped canvas and occasionally on wood panels.
The painting process is occasionally spontaneous but normally requires months of reflection and revision. Both objective and non-objective subjects are utilized based on memory or photos taken during my travels. The paintings are abstract, landscape, cityscape, seascape, or portraits. The highest quality materials are used including brushes (small, large and mural), knives and templates. The platforms are gallery-wraped canvas, 150 or 300 pound watercolor paper and wood panels that I fabricate. The pigments are Golden and Liquitex acrylics paint; Richardson, Winsor&Newton, Holben oil paints and Holben watercolor.. All my art work is original with signature and/or certificate of authenticity.
I have displayed my works in a number of exhibits including:
Austin Art Space: 12x12
Temple 2013 CAC
Temple 2015 CAC
Killeen Art Guild Exhibit 2015
Austin Art Space Contest and Exhibit 2015
